Two interstate junctions on the city’s edge

I-475 ends at I-75 at Exit 192. One exit north, Exit 193 brings US-20 and US-23 onto I-75, and one more exit north, Exit 195, is the Ohio Turnpike (Turnpike Exit 64) and SR-795. That run of junctions makes the roads around Perrysburg a heavy-truck area.

Two things follow from that:

  • Describe your vehicle in full. A pickup pulling a trailer, a camper or a box truck needs a different tow truck than a sedan. Say what you drive and what it is pulling, and whether it is AWD or electric, which usually means a flatbed.
  • Know which road you are on. I-75 and I-475 are open to any provider. The Turnpike is not (see below).

If anyone is hurt or a vehicle is blocking a lane, call 911 first; officers can order a crashed, unoccupied vehicle that blocks the road cleared away (ORC 4513.66). Otherwise, request an emergency tow.

Perrysburg or Perrysburg Township?

Perrysburg Township wraps around the city’s east and south sides, and several well-known places with a Perrysburg name are in the township. Use the place name and its highway access rather than just “Perrysburg”:

Place Where it is How to describe it
Owens Community College, 30335 Oregon Rd In Perrysburg Township; the college directs drivers to I-75 Exit 198 “Owens, Oregon Rd, off I-75 Exit 198”
Ampoint Industrial Park, Cedar Business Park, Stellantis Toledo Machining Plant In Perrysburg Township Park or plant name, gate and nearest road
Levis Commons Southwest corner of I-475 and SR-25, per the city Store name and “I-475 Exit 2”
Fort Meigs 29100 W. River Rd (SR-65) “W. River Rd at Fort Meigs”
Downtown, near the Fort Meigs Memorial Bridge At the US-20/SR-25 river crossing to Maumee Street, cross street and “Perrysburg side”

If you are not sure, give the road and the nearest crossroad, and the dispatcher can sort out the rest.

The planned rebuild of I-75 Exit 193

ODOT plans to rebuild the US-20/US-23 interchange at Exit 193 as a diverging diamond, with construction scheduled from spring 2027 to fall 2028 and detours via Crossroads Pkwy and SR-199 to SR-795 (13abc, February 2025). ODOT is also studying whether to widen I-475 through Perrysburg (ODOT study page). Schedules shift, so check OHGO before you set out, and if a detour leaves you somewhere unfamiliar, read the street signs at the nearest corner to the dispatcher.

Free weekday help on I-75 and I-475

ODOT’s Freeway Safety Patrol covers I-75 and the whole I-475 loop around Toledo, Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. It is free and can change a flat tire, fix minor mechanical problems and give a small amount of fuel; towing is not among its listed services (ODOT). For non-emergency help, call #677. Outside those hours, or off the interstate, ask for roadside assistance or fuel delivery instead.

On the Turnpike near Exit 64

Call #677. Only an official Turnpike contract garage may tow a disabled passenger car off the Turnpike, and it goes to the nearest exit (OAC 5537-3-01). While you wait, Turnpike rules allow an emergency stop only on the outer shoulder, with the whole vehicle clear of the lanes and any required warning devices out (OAC 5537-2-15).

What to have ready when you call

  • Road, direction and nearest exit, or the business name and street
  • City or township, if you know it
  • Year, make and model, plus any trailer or load
  • The destination address, whether it is a Perrysburg shop, a dealer across the river in Maumee or a long-distance tow to another city
  • How you plan to pay, so you can ask the operator what they accept

Then call (419) 329-4502 and your request goes to an independent provider, who calls you back. Ask for the total before the car is loaded; the tow cost guide explains what moves the price.

Towing in Perrysburg: common questions

Can I get a tow from Levis Commons?

Yes. Give the store or restaurant you parked near and the part of the lot; the city places Levis Commons at the southwest corner of I-475 and SR-25, by I-475 Exit 2. If the car needs a jump start or lockout help rather than a tow, say so when you call.

Who tows on the Turnpike near Perrysburg?

On the Ohio Turnpike around Exit 64, call #677. Only an official Turnpike contract garage may tow a disabled passenger car, and it takes the car to the nearest exit (OAC 5537-3-01). On I-75 and I-475 you can call any provider.

Is Owens Community College in Perrysburg?

Not in the city. The campus at 30335 Oregon Rd is in Perrysburg Township, and the college directs drivers to I-75 Exit 198 (Wales Rd/Oregon Rd), which is in Northwood. Use that exit and the college name when you describe where you are.

Will the I-75 Exit 193 rebuild affect getting a tow?

It may, once work starts. ODOT has scheduled the diverging diamond rebuild for spring 2027 to fall 2028, with detours using Crossroads Pkwy and SR-199 to SR-795. Check OHGO for closures and tell the dispatcher if a detour is why you are where you are.

Does the Freeway Safety Patrol tow cars on I-75?

No towing is listed among its services. ODOT's patrol covers I-75 and I-475 around Toledo on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and can change a flat, fix minor problems and give a small amount of fuel. If the car needs to be moved, ask for an emergency tow.
