Village or township: what your address really means
The village notes that the Holland mailing address area is large, while only a small number of households are actually under village jurisdiction (village map and street list). Most Holland addresses are in Springfield Township.
That matters for police reports, not for the tow:
- Inside the village: the Village of Holland Police Department, 1245 Clarion Ave.
- Elsewhere in Springfield Township: the township has no police force of its own; the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office has historically patrolled it.
- Any emergency: call 911.
A towing provider just needs the street and the nearest crossroad. The village’s own street list includes Angola Rd, S. McCord Rd, Clarion Ave, Front St, Holloway Rd and some Airport Hwy addresses.
Rail crossings and the McCord Rd underpass
A Norfolk Southern main line runs through the Holland area. S. McCord Rd now passes under the railroad: the underpass opened around November 2016, with a roundabout at McCord Rd, Hall St and North Mall Dr (project summary). Other roads still cross the tracks at street level. The Holland-Sylvania Rd crossing between Airport Hwy and Angola Rd closed for railroad repairs in May 2025, with traffic sent around by Reynolds Rd (13abc).
When you call, mention any closed crossing you passed and which side of the tracks you are on. If a car ever stalls on the tracks, get everyone at least 15 feet away, then call the railroad’s emergency number on the blue sign posted at the crossing, as the Federal Railroad Administration advises.
The airport road and the Turnpike
The two nearest Turnpike interchanges are Exit 52 (Toledo Airport–Swanton) at SR-2, to the west, and Exit 59 (Maumee–Toledo) at US-20, to the southeast. Toledo Express Airport is about 6 miles west, in Swanton and Monclova townships, not in Holland.
If you are on the Turnpike, call #677. The Turnpike Commission said in October 2025 that a vendor working through the AAA service may come onto the Turnpike for help such as a jump start or lockout, but a passenger car that needs to be towed off must go with a Commission-contracted operator (Commission Q&A, RFP 26-2025).

What to have ready
- The street and nearest crossroad, not just “Holland”
- Village or township, if you know it
- Any closed rail crossing or detour you passed
- Year, make and model, and whether it is AWD or electric
- Where the car is going, with an address
Then call (419) 329-4502 or send a request. Your request goes to an independent provider serving the Holland area, who confirms the price before the car is hooked up. The dispatcher guide has a fuller checklist.
