Bridges that opened in November 2013 carry Wales Rd traffic over the Norfolk Southern and CSX lines (Toledo Blade, 2014). At-grade crossings still remain on Wales Rd and Tracy Rd, and they can close: a Wales Rd crossing was shut from August 17 to about August 28, 2026 (13abc).

Woodville Rd and the old mall site

Woodville Rd (SR-51) is the main corridor between Northwood and Toledo. The former Woodville Mall closed in 2011–12 and was demolished in 2014 except for the Sears building (Woodville Mall history). The 120-acre site is now The Enclave, where a community center opened on June 3, 2024 (City of Northwood). If you are near it, saying “The Enclave, the old Woodville Mall site” covers both names a driver might know.

Other useful landmarks are Northwood High School and Elementary at 600 Lemoyne Rd and Brentwood Park. A flat tire or an empty tank in one of those lots is a roadside call: ask for flat tire help or fuel delivery through roadside assistance.

If you are not sure which side of a city line you are on, give cross streets rather than a town name. Northwood Police are at 6000 Wales Rd.

Towing in Northwood: common questions

Which interstate exits serve Northwood?

I-75 Exit 198 (Wales Rd/Oregon Rd) and I-280 Exit 6 (Woodville Rd/Curtice Rd) are both in Northwood. I-75 Exit 197 (Buck Rd), I-280 Exit 4 (Walbridge Rd) and I-280 Exit 7 (SR-2, in Oregon) are close by.

What should I do if my car stalls on the tracks in Northwood?

Get everyone out and at least 15 feet away from the tracks. Then call the railroad's emergency number on the blue-and-white sign at the crossing and read out the crossing ID number on that sign, as the Federal Railroad Administration advises. Call 911 if anyone is hurt, then request a tow.

Is the Ohio Turnpike close to Northwood?

Yes. I-280 runs south from Northwood to Turnpike Exit 71 at Stony Ridge. On the Turnpike itself, call #677; a disabled passenger car can only be towed off by an official Turnpike contract garage (OAC 5537-3-01).

Can I get a tow from The Enclave, the old Woodville Mall site?

Yes. Say The Enclave, the former Woodville Mall site, and give the building or lot you are in. If it is a dead battery or a flat rather than a breakdown, ask for roadside assistance.

Can a Northwood tow go to a shop in East Toledo or Rossford?

Usually, yes. Give the shop's address when you call; a short trip to East Toledo, Rossford or elsewhere in Toledo is a local tow. Ask for the total price before the car is loaded.
